NYTimes ripping off Food Not Bombs Logo for Blog ?

So I was on the NYTimes when I saw the Food Not Bombs logo of a upraised fist holding a carrot, and I was like, woah, the NyTimes has an article on Food Not Bombs, but then I realized that this wasn't the case and they were just using a look alike rip-off of the FNB Logo for a blog called Bitten.

See it here http://bitten.blogs.nytimes.com/
Compare the two and see what you think.

Is Crimethinc buying Banner Ads ?

So, long story made short. I went to Anarchist.org which is owned by some domain squatters somewhere, and what do I find but this. Ok most of this is just commercialization on anarchist kitsch, but right at the top is a link to Crimethinc, which makes me wonder if they or someone for them has created an advertising budget and is paying one of these scummy search engine companies to promote their product. I saw this before but when I saw it this time I had to copy it. I guess it's through the Marchex Network http://www.marchex.com/network/ ?

Keeping in touch while out of money - Free Voicemail

So in our internet age of free wireless access points, cheap laptops and mobility, cell phones are still expensive. As anyone who has a phone your looking at the very minimum 20$ a month just to keep one up and running, and your social life popping. As if you don't have a phone number you can be reached on you will fall out of the radar of a lot of people, and don't even think about trying to get anything but the shittiest of jobs. Thus the whole cycle of poverty, but in our information age there are other solutions.

freeEnergy: an introduction

We live in a world in which electricity is taken for granted by most people inside the modern city. The constant presence and humming of electrical light is only noticed in it's absence. Televisions blare consumerist propaganda into the wee hours as junkies inject their cultural memes that perpetuate their lifestyles. And the mass majority of this electricity is being generated by extremely destructive practices such as burning coal, which taints our air, our water and is destroying our mountains.

Rebuilding this Site

So this site has sat dormant for nearly the last year. A pretty cool top-level domain in my mind, something that meant something at some point, a response to capitalism, a radical rejection of consumerism, and above all an idea. It has since become lost in the realization that I don't have time to spend on it, until tonight, when I was working on figuring out how to get videos from an anti-nuclear press conference on-line I decided to look into fixing up this domain.

Key ideas for community organising

Introduction

Some very broad basic ideas for getting started at organising in your local area.
article

Firstly, remember: If you are going to do community organising, do it in your own area! Don't be a missionary!

Research and preparation
Look around your local area and determine what issues it faces. Talk to your neighbours, what issues do they think are important regarding the area. Determine what kinds of projects you can develop or direct action you can take that meet the area's needs or address the community's issues.

About This Site

This site is a work in progress.
It exists in the imagination, a merely blunder of possibility.

The basic idea is one of sustainable autonomy.

There are a lot of concepts here which will become clear as more and more writings are put up on this site.

First and foremost though, this site will include practical guides and information for people who want to live for free, that is without being victims of the financial economy which is extremely slanted to create a hierarchical power structure that favors the elite and disempowers people on the ground.
